Self care gift basket ideas for everyone on your list (yourself included!)

Can you believe that fall is already here? I love fall because it leads to more cozy vibes and the holiday season.

But it can also lead to a more chaotic time as we prepare for the holiday season and the New Year (gasp).

Everyone, myself included is getting back into the swing of things after being in vacay mode all summer long. So if you’re looking for the perfect gift for someone, how about a self care gift basket?

Self care is so important for our well-being and giving someone the gift of self care can give them the extra nudge to believe that they matter. That they deserve some quality time by themselves to really refill that cup of theirs.

After all, we all know how important it is to take care of ourselves, but sometimes it’s hard to find the time to do things we enjoy.

That’s why I decided to put together a list of self-care gift basket ideas!

Whether you’re looking for a gift for a friend or you want to treat yourself, these baskets are sure to have something for everyone.

Why is Self-Care Important?

Self-care is important for our physical and mental health. Is this a thank you captain obvious moment?

But I feel like it is important to say again and again …

When we take care of ourselves, we’re able to recharge and handle stress more effectively.

When we don’t make time for self-care, we can become overwhelmed, anxious, and burnt out. If you’re having trouble fitting self-care into your schedule, consider making it a priority by setting aside some time each day or week specifically for taking care of yourself.

It doesn’t have to be anything major—even just 10 minutes of reading or spending time outside can make a big difference.

I personally love to incorporate self-care in my morning routine so that I can fill up my cup first thing in the morning because the craziness of the day takes over.

How to Make a Self-Care Gift Basket?

Making a self-care basket is easy and only requires a few simple steps:

1. Choose a theme:

Pick a theme that reflects the recipient’s interests and personality. Some popular themes include relaxation, pampering, self-love, wellness, etc. After all a thoughtful gift is one that is personalized to the individual receiving said gift so try to think of something that they would truly enjoy.

Remember, self-care is unique to everyone but a great place to start is definitely either a pampering theme or a self-love theme box in my opinion.

2. Gather items:

Once you’ve chosen a theme, start gathering items that fit that theme. You can find items online, at your local stores, or even DIY some of the items yourself!

For example, a self-care box may include a good book, hot tea, and a sweet treat. Simple as that! However, if that doesn’t sound like the best thing for your family member or special someone, I have more ideas down below.

3. Put it all together:

Once you have all of your items, it’s time to put the basket together! Start by placing larger items in the bottom of the basket and then filling in with smaller items around them. Be sure to wrap everything up nicely with some pretty tissue paper before gifting it to someone special. Presentation is everything! (or at least an easy way to make it look extra special.

4. Add a personal touch

To really make the basket extra special, add a handwritten note or card explaining why you chose each item in the basket. I personally believe great self care baskets are ones that come from the heart. If you point out why you thought that would be perfect for them, that are going to really appreciate the thought that you put into this gift and really feel loved. Way more loved than if you just handed them a gift card! (and now, I’m not hating on gift cards but you know what I mean).

TIP: Not sure what to include in your basket? Check out our list of self-care gift ideas below!

Self-Care Gift Basket Ideas

Okay, now that we got the basic, ‘how to create a self care gift basic,’ let’s get to the ideas. After all, I’m sure you’re here for some inspiration to make your very own self care gift basket that is going to wow that special something.

So here are some ideas:

1. A relaxing pampering basket:

This could include things like:

(bath bombs, bath salts, bubble bath essentials, Epsom salts)

The stereotypical self care routine of taking a relaxing hot bath. Now, don’t get me wrong, my fiance and one of my best friends rave about baths so don’t knock it until you try. It’s not my cup of tea but that’s the point of self care, it has to work for you.

Here’s some of my recommendations from Amazon:

Soft Bath towel

Now I can get behind a super soft luxurious towel. It really makes all the difference.

Hair Products

Hair ties, hair clips, headbands, barrettes, you name it! Hair products are something that are nice to have but I often forget to buy for myself. I love getting hair products as gifts to try out!

Dental care products

so I’m not going to lie, dental care products is probably just a self-care idea if you’re making this basket for yourself. Maybe a significant other but you’re walking a fine line. You don’t want to be like here, your breath stinks, you know what I mean!

but I know when I’m confident about my smile, I feel better. So whitening strips can be helpful but again, maybe a you gift.

Skincare products (face masks, lip balm)

I love a good face masks and they are so easy to gift!

Spa gift set

So a spa gift set would be a lot of these things combined. Making your own DIY spa set is great because you can tailor it specifically to them! Do they like baths, easy enough! But if they don’t then you can throw in some face masks, lotions, maybe a gift card for a massage, whatever they like!

Nail Polish

It’s always handy to have some nail polish lying around for when you have last minute plans for the girls or a date night and you want to save your money on a manicure. I personally LOVE OPI. I truly believe it’s the best, inexpensive polish. You see it in most salons so it has to be good right?

Be serious, it seems to stay on and not chip waaayyyy longer than anything else I’ve picked up at the pharmacy or Target.

So OPI, you won’t regret it.

Bottle of wine

Okay so I can’t link a bottle of wine from Amazon but girl, you know what their favorite wine is. Go and pick one up!

2. A Netflix and Relax basket

So I can’t say Netflix and chill or you’ll get the wrong idea. This is a date with yourself after all. So Netflix and reflect it is. Because sometimes you just need a binge session.

But anyways, I would link things here but I don’t think it would do you justice. There are too many options and it is truly super unique to the person that you’re gifting these to.

Tea/Warm Beverage

Nothing beats having a warm beverage, binging a show, or watching a movie under a nice cozy blanket. It is heaven on earth.

Tasty Snacks

I mean popcorn is the obvious choice here. You’re setting up the movie vibes after all but whatever works. Maybe you can find a fun recipe on Pinterest and make it for them and include it in the basket!

Favorite Movie

So I would say include a DVD of their favorite movie but I feel like DVD players aren’t as readily available nowadays (am I aging myself?) but maybe you could put things in the box that complement their favorite movie.

Hocus Pocus 2 is coming out so we’ll use that as an example. There’s a lot of Hocus Pocus-themed clothing and mugs on Etsy. Pair it with a black candle and there you go!

Good smelling items (candles, essential oil diffuser)

Speaking of candles, you could give a basket with some good-smelling candles or essential oils if that is their jam! If they don’t have an essential oil diffuser that is a good gift idea. They say that essential oils are less toxic than candles so it’s something to consider.

3. A self-care essentials basket:

This could include items like personal development items or memberships to a meditation app like Headspace or Calm.com. Here are a few more ideas:

Self Care Planner

I’m going to shamelessly plug my self-care planner here. It’s a digital product but it can always be printed out if you physically want to put it in the basket. Otherwise, you can enter their email when purchasing it! It is only $15 so it is a great addition to your self care gift basket!

Journals

I’m a big fan of journaling and I truly believe everyone should incorporate journaling into their daily routine. It is a great way to get your thoughts out of your head that are swirling around and stressing you out.

Books

This will vary depending on what the person is into. It could be anything from a personal development book to a thriller novel.

Adult Coloring book

Coloring books are a good way to destress and let the stress from the day disappear. So buy an adult coloring book (or a princess one if that is their jam) and some colored pencils and let their creative side shine!

Affirmation cards

Anyone who is on a self growth journey knows how powerful affirmations can be. While creating your own affirmation is best, affirmation cards can be a great place to start and get some ideas from.

4. A useful items basket

If you aren’t quite sure what their self care love language is, then practical items with a little flair and a little love are always appreciated.

Water bottle

I’ve had this water bottle shaker for years and I absolutely love it. It is easy to clean and versatile since you can mix protein powder or any mixes in it. It is loud like the ones that have the ball in it and I’ve literally used it almost everyday for over two years now.

Motivational Mug

Can you ever have enough mugs? Maybe, but I love getting a new mug to freshen up my cup of tea. Especially ones that are dishwasher safe.

White noise machine

I know so many people who can’t sleep without some white noise. Instead of them using their phone, a dedicated noise machine may be helpful!

Comfy clothes (like fuzzy socks and even blankets)

Leggings, sweats, blankets, cozy socks… all the cozy things. You could literally do a whole basket of just these things and they would probably love it.

weighted blanket

A weighted blanket can be so comforting and even calm the anxious mind!

5. A done-for-you basket

I know, you love the idea of a self care gift basket but you don’t have the time to be running all over the places collecting items or hoping that things online is going to be what you’re imaging.

So here are some of the best rated self care gift boxes:
