If you’re reading a personal development blog, I know you are constantly leveling up in life. As women, we are always hustling.
Whether that is in our careers, at home, or in our relationships, we are always striving to be better. If you ask me, women are way more bada$$ than men. After all, what man is making sure their home is aesthetically pleasing AND crushing it at their career?
Yeah, I can’t think of one either.
But I’m not here to bash on men. I love my fiance, brothers, and dad after all. They’re awesome in their own ways.
I’m here to talk about leveling up in life as a woman. Girl power, am I right?
Whether that is your career, at home, or starting a side biz, I got you.
To be honest, nothing in this post is ground-breaking, However, incorporating these simple tactics into your life is going to make a HUGE impact in helping you get where you want to go.
Because girl, I believe you have the skills already to crush whatever is on your heart but you may just need to hear someone else say it.
These tactics have helped me on my personal development journey and I know they can help you too.
Say Yes to things that excite you
One of the easiest ways to level up in life is to start saying YES more. I’m not saying be like Jim Carey in the movie “Yes Man” where he had to say yes to everything. The point is to say yes to anything that sounds interesting, that is going to help you LIVE life… which is kinda the whole plot of the movie… #spoiler
But it’s a good point!
Because that’s how we can find our passion. You will never know what you’re passionate about if you stay in your comfort zone and keep doing the same things day in and day out.
So if you find yourself feeling the urge to do something or if a friend invites you to an outing and you get this feeling of excitement in your belly, go for it! You never know where it will lead you.
Practice Gratitude Daily
Sometimes leveling up can be as simple as a mindset shift. A method I used to shift my mindset into a positive one was to write down what I was grateful for every day.
Having a gratitude journal can really change your life for the better. After all, we can all take a moment to reflect on all the good things happening to us right now.
I typically write down what I was grateful for from the day before. When we’re following the motions of daily life, oftentimes we overlook things we are grateful for or the little things that happened during the day that amount to something great.
For example, it could be someone reaching out to you that you haven’t heard from in a while, when your significant other empties the dishwasher, or simply that it was a sunny day and you were able to take a walk outside.
Practicing gratitude daily can help you see the good things in everyday life. It also opens your eyes to see all the good things that are already happening in your life! This is especially important in today’s society where it is hard not to compare yourself to others.
Stop the Negative Self-Talk
Practicing this can help rewire our minds to be more positive. This could lead to you stopping the negative self-talk altogether that isn’t serving you.
We all know that we are our own worst critics. The things we say to ourselves we would never say to a friend which is crazy! After all, we spend the most time with ourselves so we shouldn’t be bringing that negativity into our lives!
Whenever a negative thought passes through your mind, follow it up with a positive thought. This way you’re bringing awareness to it AND you’re clapping back at it with something good.
Work on Self-Love
Self-love is something very important when it comes to leveling up. If you don’t love yourself, you aren’t going to want to take the steps needed to move forward and improve.
Going off this comparison mode that we often find ourselves in because of society, sometimes it’s hard to not compare ourselves to our peers. However, you have to remind yourself that what people post on social media are the best versions of themselves.
They have struggles and things they are not happy about too. However, like you, they aren’t posting it on social media.
Other things we can do for our self-love are dropping the toxic people in our lives and incorporating self-care into our routines.
Drop the Toxic People in your life
It is going to be hard to move forward in life and better yourself if you have toxic people in your life holding you back or bringing you down!
Sometimes these people can be hard to identify especially if they’ve been a part of our lives for some time. However, you have to dig deep and really evaluate your relationship.
Do you feel good when you are around them? If you think about that person, are you feeling calm?
If the answer to these questions is ‘no’ then it may be time to not associate yourself with that person or talk to them less. If you want to save the relationship, have an open and honest conversation with them. If they are willing to change, then that’s good! If not, then it is time to move on.
Self-care is going to look different for everyone but it is so important in your personal development! We all need the time to relax and recharge.
This could be a bubble bath, reading, or watching reality TV. It can really be anything!
I personally love watching reality TV to unwind and relax. I don’t care what anyone says, it relaxes me and lets my mind rest for a little bit.
I get that’s not for everyone though so do you, boo! It may take some trial and error so definitely try out a few different self-care rituals to see which one works for you.
Visualization and Goal setting
Visualization can be a very powerful tool to help you get clear on where you want to go. Sometimes we set some pretty ambitious goals and we need a roadmap to get there.
This roadmap could be discovered through visualization. You can do visualization in a number of ways including a vision board, meditation, or even to start exposing yourself to the end-goal if possible.
For example, if your goal is to be able to do a pull-up, you may want to watch some videos of personal trainers doing pull-ups or someone who knows what they are doing to learn the technique and what you need to do to get there. Basically doing your research.
Having goals are essential when trying to level up in life. Without goals, you have nothing to strive for so it would be difficult to improve if you don’t create a destination. Otherwise, you probably aren’t going to take action and move forward.
On top of setting a goal, it is essential that you know your ‘why’. Why do you even want to accomplish this goal?
This is a good time to visualize how you feel when you accomplish that goal. Try to include as many senses as possible to really get yourself mentally in the moment. Knowing your ‘why’ is going to help you keep going when times get tough. With any goal that’s worth chasing, there are going to be bumps in the road.
Knowing your ‘why’ and being able to visualize the end result is really going to help you strive to reach that goal day in and day out.

Consistency (Putting in your Reps)
When it comes to becoming better versions of ourselves, leveling up is not going to be easy. You’re going to have to put in the time and effort.
I know we live in a world where everyone wants to take a shortcut or make a quick buck but that won’t lead to sustainable success.
You have to be consistent. Consistent when no one is watching and when it isn’t easy. You have to put in the reps to get better at whatever it is you’re trying to do.
Using strength training as an example. You’re going to have to do hundreds, maybe even thousands of sets of a Sumo Deadlift before you perfect the form and are able to lift your body weight. You aren’t going to walk into a gym one day and be good at deadlifts.
No, this takes time and practice.
Just like public speaking isn’t going to be easy the first time you do it. You’re going to have to do it a bunch of times before it comes naturally to you.
And that’s okay! Being a beginner at something isn’t a bad thing. It just means you have the opportunity to grow and get better!
Do Things outside your comfort zone
Speaking of being a beginner at something, getting out of your comfort zone is a great way to level up in life. There isn’t going to be much growth where you’re comfortable.
As humans, we want to be in our comfort zone. As women, society encourages us to stay in our comfort zone. But think of all the bada$$ women who went against this?
Getting out of our way and out of our comfort zone is so crucial. That’s where amazing things happen! That’s where women start running the world! Since let’s be real, we’re meant to do that.
I am a firm believer that knowledge is power. The more you know, the more you are aware of different ways of thinking, different cultures, and different ways to approach things.
Reading personal development or self-help books can help in so many different ways. Not only is reading good for our minds, but it’s a great way to learn.
We should always be open to learning. You can never know too much.
Invest in yourself
This can go hand in hand with reading.
It is kind of funny how we won’t hesitate to go to brunch with our closest friends and spend $50 but when it comes to that online course that can help us level up, we mull it over.
Even if you invest in the course, and nothing came out of it, you still learned something. It could even be as simple as that thing that you thought was for you really isn’t.
One less thing on the massive, “What makes me feel fulfilled “ list.
Choosing to invest in yourself can lead to so many doors opening. So many opportunities. If you have the resources to invest in that thing that is pulling at your heart, I say take the plunge, girl!
Stop hesitating and just say yes!
Focus on one thing at a time
We live in a world where instant gratification is everything. We want everything yesterday.
In this constantly hustling world, I encourage you to slow down. Focus on one thing at a time.
Rome wasn’t built in a day and you leveling up won’t happen in a day either. As an ambitious woman, I know you have a huge to-do list and things you want to accomplish but trying to do them all at once is going to lead to burnout and overwhelm.
And I don’t want that for you.
I want you to be able to crush your goals and level up in ways that you can’t imagine yet. I want you to be able to look back and be SO proud of where you are.
But it’s going to take some time and some grace.
So pick one thing on that to-do list and start there. Once you complete that, you can move on.
Trust me, it will bring so much more intention and focus to your life. It’ll give you the opportunity to clear your mind and really hone in on that one task.
Be kind to yourself and give yourself the opportunity to grow by taking your time. All great things take time.
Think of all the great things in your life. I’m sure they didn’t happen overnight. You didn’t get to where you are in your career or your relationships in one day. It took time, effort, and consistency to get where you are now.
So let me know in the comments below, what is one goal you are going to focus on this month to level up in life? What is one thing you’re going to drop so you can focus on this thing?
Until next time,
